Making it easier and affordable to switch to an all-electric home
The all-electric home is comfortable to live in and cheaper to run. Yet the journey to an all-electric home can be hard, confusing and expensive for both households and installers.
Through the Go Electric pilot program, we will change that experience.
Overview
Together, participating households and our experts will develop a single pathway to:
Understand a home’s electric potential
Match rebates and financial support to a range of circumstances
Identify and supply electrical appliances
Coordinate installation across multiple trades
Provide great aftercare with energy deals, warranties in one place and applications that track your usage
Participation
Only 1,000 homes in Banks and surrounding suburbs can participate in the pilot program.
ELIGIBILTY
Live in Banks or a surrounding suburb
Be a renter (yes, this program is open to renters too!)
Be a homeowner or mortgagee
Own housing stock in the suburb
Register now to receive great guidance and support to go fully electric or to just make the switch away from that gas cooktop, heating or hot water system.
Timeframe
The Go Electric pilot program runs from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2028.

A pilot program helps us all 〰️
Electric homes cost less to run, feel more comfortable, and cut real emissions — but going electric today means navigating confusion and cost alone. With the ACT switching off gas by 2045, we need a clear way to get there.
This is more than 1,000 household installations. It's a full-scale community demonstration built to prove three things:
Works in a cold climate — a fair proxy for the 40% of Australia that's just as harsh.
One coordinated pathway, not a patchwork — assessment to install to aftercare, at scale.
Evidence real change at scale takes the whole mix — great engagement, meaningful finance, the right technology and effective coordination.
We're not starting from scratch with plenty of Canberra homeowners having already made the switch. This pilot grew out of conversations between Electrify Canberra and those homeowners, who told us what was missing: real support navigating and funding the move to an all-electric home.
That's what this pilot delivers: one coordinated pathway, tested and improved with every household in Banks and surrounding suburbs over two years, so we can scale that experience to the rest of Canberra and beyond.
Delivering it together
The program provides access to existing ACT Government rebates, finance schemes and support programs as well as national assistance. Even households experiencing severe financial hardship may also be eligible for fully funded upgrades, subject to applicable eligibility requirements and program terms.

You're eligible if you're a homeowner in Banks or a surrounding suburb, or a licensed trade operating in the Canberra region. Support is tiered based on your circumstances:
Most eligible households receive a 20% installation rebate, plus access to concessional finance at 3% on the first $20,000 of works.
Concession card holders can access 0% interest on the first $10,000, plus a rebate on selected electrification products.
Households in severe financial hardship may have some upgrades fully funded by the ACT Government.

No. Your information is used to run your pilot journey and measure how the program's working — not to generate leads for retailers or installers outside the program.

Your install, your savings and your aftercare support don't end with the pilot. What ends is the evaluation phase — the evidence we gather goes toward refining the approach and expanding it to more of Canberra.
